Stewarding Space is a North Texas-based real estate development firm focused on local-scale commercial and mixed-use assets, with a particular interest in historic properties and overlooked markets surrounding Dallas proper.
Founded in 2022 by Michaella Ramler, Stewarding Space was created to bring vision, resources, and thoughtful development to communities where belief and investment have often been limited. The firm approaches real estate as both a practical necessity and a powerful tool for community impact, seeking to create spaces that serve people, strengthen local economies, and contribute to long-term neighborhood vitality.
Stewarding Space builds on more than a decade of development experience, including Michaella’s prior work helping grow Proxy Properties, a full-service development firm known for historic residential and commercial projects throughout Oak Cliff. Across her career, Michaella has contributed to the development of more than 250,000 square feet of multifamily, retail, and mixed-use space.
The firm is especially committed to ethical and relationship-centered development. One of Stewarding Space’s distinguishing models is its shared ownership approach, which explores ways to integrate commercial tenant anchors, operators, and strategic partners into meaningful equity positions. This model has been piloted across more than 20,000 square feet of retail and mixed-use development in historic Downtown Denton and Downtown Lancaster, and is continuing through the Downtown Glen Rose hotel redevelopment, where design partner SWOON, the Studio has been brought into the ownership structure.
At its core, Stewarding Space combines creative vision, practical execution, financial discipline, and a deep respect for place. The firm is hands-on in its approach, stewarding not only buildings, but also relationships with tenants, partners, municipalities, and the broader community.
Looking ahead, Stewarding Space is also committed to exploring housing partnerships that support young adults transitioning out of foster care, furthering its belief that real estate should create both economic and human impact.
